Course Description:  The Paediatric First Aid Award delivered by Eternal Balance LLP, is a comprehensive training program designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective first aid for children and infants. This course, accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), provides a nationally recognised qualification that meets regulatory and legal requirements for individuals working with or caring for children. As a national training provider and accredited SQA Centre, Eternal Balance LLP ensures high-quality instruction and compliance with industry standards.

Course Objectives:

1. Understand the principles and importance of paediatric first aid in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and infants.

2. Recognise and respond appropriately to common medical emergencies, injuries, and illnesses specific to children and infants.

3. Demonstrate competence in administering first aid techniques tailored for children and infants, including basic life support, choking, bleeding, fractures, burns, and more.

4. Comply with regulatory and legal requirements related to paediatric first aid provision, including risk assessment and maintaining accurate records.

5. Develop effective communication skills when dealing with parents, guardians, and emergency services in paediatric first aid situations.

6. Promote a safe and nurturing environment for children and infants by implementing preventative measures and risk reduction strategies.

7. Enhance confidence and readiness to respond promptly and effectively to paediatric first aid emergencies.

The Paediatric First Aid Award is suitable for individuals who work with or care for children and infants in various professional settings, including but not limited to:

Upon successful completion of this 2-day course, participants will be awarded the Paediatric First Aid Award at SCQF level 6 accredited by the SQA. This certification demonstrates the participant's competence in providing first aid for children and infants and meets regulatory and legal requirements for paediatric first aid provision.

Note:  The Paediatric First Aid Award delivered by Eternal Balance LLP focuses on providing first aid to children and infants. It does not replace the need for appropriate adult first aid qualifications.

Prerequisites:  Participants should have a First Aid at Work SQA Award or the equivalent , the Centre will consider participants with a basic understanding of first aid principles and be able to demonstrate competence in adult first aid techniques.
